Courses, Eligibility and Entrance Exams
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS): Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent with physics, chemistry, biology and English as subjects, Entrance Exam. Duration of course is 5 and half years including internship.
Post Graduate Diploma: Child Health (DCH), Laryngology and Otology (DLO), Diploma in Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGO) Duration is 2 years.
Postgraduate Degree in broad specialties – Doctor of Medicine (MD). Duration is 3 years.
Super specializations: Doctor of Medicine (DM), and Master of Chirurgiae (MCh).
M.Phil and PhD.
What will you study
Pre-clinical subjects such as Human Anatomy, Physiology including Bio-Physics, Biochemistry and introduction to Community Medicine including Humanities. Para-clinical and clinical subjects like Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine including Toxicology and part of Community Medicine are taught. Medicine and its allied specialties, Surgery and its allied specialties, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Community medicine .
BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) & DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
National Institute of Homeopathy monitors Homeopathic education in India. There are 2 courses available in the undergraduate level – Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) and Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (DHMS). There are about 160 colleges in India that offer courses in homeopathic education in India. BHMS is a degree course of 5 and half years (which includes 12 months of internship), while DHMS is a diploma course of 4 years.
Eligibility and Admission Process:
10+2, with Science stream, which should include subjects Biology, Chemistry and Physics with at least 50% marks and the rank obtained in the entrance examination.
B.A.M.S - Bachelors in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery: The Ayurvedic Education in India is presently being monitored by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), which is a statutory Central Government body. Around 150 colleges offer BAMS. The duration of the course is 5 and half years, which includes 12 months of internship.

10+2, with the Science stream, including the subjects Biology, Chemistry and Physics with at least 50% marks and the rank obtained in the entrance examination.
Medical Entrance exam:
NEET : From 2017 the common entrance NEET is manadatory for all medical and dental admissions in Indian Medical colleges including AIIMS and JIPMER.
The fees for an MBBS course in India varies depending on the whether the college is government funded or whether it is a private college. In government colleges tution fee is very low.
AIIMS Delhi Tution fee per year is Rs 1350.
According to Times of India 26 Sep, Tution Fee at SRM Medical college ( Private ) is Rs 21 Lakh per year. Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences, Tution fee for Management Quota is Rs 18 Lakh a year.
At Dr D Y Patil Medical College, Navi Mumbai, the fee is Rs 16.5 lakh annually or Rs 76.2 lakh for their entire course. Similarly , at Chennai-based Saveetha University, the annual tuition fee has gone up from Rs 9 lakh last year to Rs 15 lakh now.
