Our Ex Prime Minister Dr. Man Mohan Singh was an economist by profession. He was the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of India. His formal entry into politics happened when the then Prime Minister, Sh.P.V.Narasimha Rao, chose him as the country’s Finance Minister From1991 to 1996.
Noted politician, and Now the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi, has been a member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a right wing cultural organization, since childhood, and an active politician since early in life. He is educated and has a masters degree in political science. In 1998, he was chosen by the then leader of the BJP, Mr.L.K. Advani, to direct his party’s election campaign in Gujarat as well as Himachal Pradesh. And he went on to become the longest serving CM of Gujarat.
Arun Shourie, is an Indian journalist, author and politician. He served as an economist with the World Bank (1968–72 and 1975–77), a consultant to the Planning Commission, India, editor of the Indian Express and Times of India and became a minister in the government of India (1998–2004).
A recent addition to this list is Mr.Arvind Kejriwal, whose Aam Admi Party (AAP) has recently won elections for Delhi State Assembly and will soon be sworn in as chief minister of Delhi. Sh. Kejriwal, is an Engineering graduate from the prestigious IIT-Kharagpur. Thereafter, he cleared the civil services examination and joined the prestigious Indian Revenue Services (IRS). Soon he realized that he could contribute more through his Non-Government Organization and started doing social service. He gained prominence during the anti-corruption movement started by another prominent social servant, Sh.Anna Hazare.
