Pay and Remuneration

In the Para Military forces the salary structures vary depending on the rank and force. The Assistant Commandents get paid in the pay band of Rs 1.8 lakhs a year to 4.5 lakhs a year with grade pay. This does not including perks such as free ration, travel and medical allowance, etc.  Apart from monthly salary and allowances, outstanding and exclusive training - from horseback riding to training in the various styles of self-defence - that anyone who joins the paramilitary forces receives. These make the Para-military services a much sought-after profession.

A day in life

For a BSF officer the day start early with physical training. Even before reaching the office they may take reports from the field locations. Office work involves checking the key points of border and weapon maintenance. Officers have to allot various shifts to the personnel deployed at the post. It is said that BSF person is on duty 24 hours so even if you reach back to rest you may need to go and check posts at any time in the night as well.
