Starting salaries could be below 1 lakh to 1.8 lakhs per year depending upon academic qualification, Institute or university from which the degree is attained, level of work experience and company policy. Peak salaries in Indian Government-owned labs would be a cost to company of around Rs 12 lakhs per year including housing and other benefits.A Chief Scientist in a private sector laboratory or biotech company would earn an internationally competitive salary at par with Chief Financial Officers and Chief Technology Officers in the corporate sector in the range of Rs 50 lacs to Rs 1 crore per annum.

An education in biotechnology can set you up for a wide variety of careers including management, marketing, and of course, laboratory science. Research based biotechnology career have two places to work, academic and biotech industry.
Many scientists held faculty positions in colleges, universities and research institutes funded by state and central governments. Almost half of all biological scientists were employed by the state and central government funded institutions. B Tech Biotechnology with PCB marks / Without JEE
In the state of Haryana B.E./B.Tech (Bio-Technology) Admission during centralized counseling is made on the basis of the inter-se-merit of JEE-MAIN. Remaining unfilled/ vacant seats of centralized counseling are filled by the institute, firstly by the candidates who have studied only Biology and thus could not take JEEMAIN exam. Inter-se merit for such candidates is calculated on the basis of marks of Physics, Biology, Chemistry/ Bio-Tech/ Computer Science. 50% Seats in UIET, Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak and 50% Seats in UIET, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra of their intake in B.Tech (Bio-Technology) course shall be filled by the candidates who have studied only Biology and thus could not take JEE-MAIN exam. Inter-se merit for such candidates shall be calculated on the basis of marks of Physics, Biology, Chemistry/ Bio-Tech/ Computer Science.These seats may be filled by the respective Universities parallel to online counseling for B.Tech course.
