Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore
Amrita University was started by the world-renowned humanitarian leader, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma. The Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is headquartered at Coimbatore and has campuses at Amritapuri, Kochi, Bengaluru and Mysore. It was founded in 1994 when the School of Engineering was opened in an Obscure village, Ettimadai, at the foothills Bouluvanpatty ranges of Western Ghats in the Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu.
Amrita University is accredited with the highest grade of 'A' by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. NAAC advocates that all accredited institutions establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) for quality sustenance and enhancement, post-accreditation.
Amrita conducts entrance exams for admission to many of its bachelors and masters level programs. Nation-wide entrance exams are conducted for B Tech, MBBS, BDS, BAMS and MCA. For many other programs, entrance exams are conducted at the schools' premises. Admission criteria varies for the different programs.
