Who is an Investment Banker?

Investment bankers are qualified and skilled professionals who provide services to their client for raising funds. They study the trends in financial markets, risk involved in investments and the prevalent economic conditions. They provide these services as part of investment banks themselves or as separate firms associated with banks.

 

Investment bankers help in raising both equity funds and debt funds. They also help in strategic acquisitions of businesses, mergers and planning the joint ventures. Since they help take big financial decisions they usually research a lot and for this must know financial accounting and other laws related to capital and funds.

 

Investment bankers rate the financial securities and instruments and help in capital structuring by providing advise on pricing of securities, issue and placement of stocks. Investment bankers also help in portfolio management. They invest the clients assets in debt, equity and financial instruments. They also research and develop advisory on securities, markets and sometimes economies of various countries.
