Forest Managers are employed by industries that utilize forest resources. Many of them work outdoors and some work in research. Good employment options exist in private organisations and in public and government sector, Many NGO’s also take qualified people. Forest research institutes also hire managers to manage their resources and work in research. Entry into the Central Government is through the Indian Forest Service (IFS) examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

The days of forest managers depends on what aspect of forest management they are involved in or what specialisation they have taken. He may also be responsible for maintaining the forest staff and travels and supervises work force in the field.
